 About Kennel Sletthallen

Nyheter på Kennel Sletthallen!!!

24.03.12 They have a great nose! The litter of Equimark and Heegårds T Dundee is impressive. Six of the ten puppies from the litter has been at field trials and all of them placed - 5 with Excellent. They will be 2 years in May and we look forward to see how they do in the Open class in the fall.
22.08.10 "Basse" got the entry ticket for The Norwegian Derby! Sønnanåen's On the Run (Sletthallens Cash/Sønnanåens Zelma Simone) got Excellent at NESKs field trial at Kiær with no less than six points on grouse. He is 16 months old.
15.05.10 We got 10 beautiful puppies today! We bred Heegårds T Dundee with frozen semen after Equimark. We imported Equimark (FDSB906391 CH Tomoka/FDSB37276 Oscar's Bronze Monel)  from America in the late 70's. Apart from doing very well at field trials himself here in Norway he has also been one of the best breeders through time. We hope the puppies will meet our high expectations.
20.06.10 Sletthallens Becham can now use the title - Norwegian Field Trial Champion. In order to become av field trial champion in Norway an Excellent is required from a show in addition to the high field trial requirements. Sletthallens Becham (Hurrycane/Cree) participated at a show for the first time in his life the other day at the age of 10 years. He got Excellent and won the veterans class.

14.11.07 The field trials of 2007 are now behind us with many good memories!
The snow has just started falling and it is quiet here after many miles on the roads and lots of hunting. We have enjoyed many wonderful days in the woods, fields and mountains. Unfortunately we have not had time to participate at as many trials as we had hoped to, but we are pleased with the year we shortly will leave behind us.
Our own dogs have won 19 prizes this year, incl. 6 x 1.VK (Winner class). The highligths have been: Heegårds T Dundee who placed 4th in the final in The Danish English Setter Clubs spring trial and no. 3 in the Danish Derby; Sletthallens Cash placed 1st on the 1st and 2nd day of The Norwegian Winter Championships (200 dogs total) and placed 1st, 6th and 4th under The Norwegian Pheasant & Partridge Championship (160 dogs total; Sletthallens Becham made a good impression at the winter trials at Hovden placing 1st the first day and 2nd w/Res.CACIT in the finals.

Skillfull and enthusiastic buyers of our puppies and breeders who have used some of our males have resulted in a total of 55 prizes this year for Kennel Sletthallen (23 youth, 12 open, 22 winner class). It was a great end of the season when Jon Nesheim won the Forus Open with Finnvellens Luna (ex Sletthallens Cash). Congratulations with all your good results.
When it comes to the results of breeding we have enjoyed watching all the young dogs this year. Sletthallens Cash's offsprings have won 10 x 1.UK (with three different bitches) and it's been 6 x 1.UK after Sletthallens Ranger and two different bitches.

Eager hunters - Thomas and Haaken

We wish to thank our friends and aquaintances for many memorable days in the woods, fields and mountains - hunting, training and competing. A special thanks to Jette and Jørgen Heegård who offered Heegårds T Dundee the possibilities to compete in Denmark and brought her to the top each time!
02.09.07 Puppies after Sletthallens Cash are growing up! This season five offsprings after Sletthallens Cash have a total of 13 prizes. They have all placed 1st and have therefore qualified for the Norwegian Derby. Folgefonnas Hedda and -Robbie's dam is Sletthallens Punky, Østheia's Eend Jagter and -Out O'Cash's dam is Østheia's Out O'Touch and last, but not least, Finnvellens Luna's dam is Fosens Ylva. 04.07 The Norwegian Winter Championship 2007! 200 dogs braved the weather at Andøya, north in Norway, this year to compete for the title. Sletthallens Cash placed 1st under the qualifications on the first day - the only one that found grouse this day. In the semifinals on the second day he placed 1st again. Unfortunately, he did not have any finds in the finals. However, he has had a great winter season with 3 x 1.VK.
03.07 Sletthallens Becham had a great weekend! At the winter trials at Hovden he placed 1st in the semifinals and 2nd in the finals with res.CACIT competing against 60 dogs.
03.07 A great start for the winter trials!

12.06 The year 2006 has been a good one for Kennel Sletthallen!
Dogs from Kennel Sletthallen have 34 placements this year (7 youth-, 10 open- and 17 in the Champion or Winner class). In addition to our own dogs that have done well this high number of good placements would not be possible without the outstanding work done by buyers of our puppies. We wish to thank and congratulate all of you for  the great results.
09.06 Harold Ray and Bonafide - The Hall of Fame.
It was with great pleasure we were advised through American Field that Harold Ray and Bonafide were elected to the prestigous Hall of Fame. We sent in our votes earlier this year and were quite confident of the outcome.

Harold can show to results most of us will only dream of. Those who know him will know that he has a very special touch with both dogs and horses - he hardly ever needs to raise his voice and still has their respect and adoration. It is a treat watching him work his dogs. Furthermore, he has been very successful with his breeding program. The latter is very much the reason for Kennel Sletthallen's success over the past 30 years. We will always be grateful for the good dogs Harold has sent us and his sound advise.

06.06 NJCH Sletthallens Cash can now add two new titles to his name!
In june he obtained the Norwegian Kennel Club's (NKK) certificate at NKK's international dog show. As he already had a certificate from Sweden he is now both norwegian and swedish show champion in addition to his old field trial champion title
03.06 Cousins abroad!
We wish to congratulate Harold Ray and Smarty Smith with fantastic results in United States Quail Shooting Dog Futurity which took place in January in North Carolina. 84 of the countries finest shooting dog Derbies were drawn to compete from a duly nominated field of 100. Smarty Smith (ex. Private Ryan/Blew by You) placed 2nd. Smarty was a bird-finding star - with 4 finds and 2 unproductive. This will be a dog to watch in the years to come. Here in Norway we have the sister of Private Ryan (Shine On) and the brother of Blew by You (Cree). We are also very pleased with these blood lines.

02.06 Andalucia, Spain
We went to Jerez,Spain in February to experience the Grand Quette dogs, which we had heard so much about, for the first time. We were not disappointed. There were some fantastic dogs such as Big Jim and Rambo to mention a few. It is easy to understand how highly valued these type of trials are with the wonderful terrain you find in Andalucia - endless. In Norway where the practical hunter rules and the terrain is mainly rather rugged it is more effective with the Grand Chasse dogs. However, it was a wonderful experience seeing the best of these dogs. Members of The International Setter Club were, as always helpful. A special thanks to Mr. Roberto Pedrazetti who arranged for us to accompany the judges and Mrs.Ilona Joustra-Vermoolen who helped us with the language barrier.
02.06 The bronze winner!
Last oktober a protest was made in regards to the points obtained by Norway and Holland. The final change of results is now official. Norway and Holland shared 3.place and Sweden was no.4
10.05 The 27th World Championship 2005
This year the World Championships were held at Vildbjerg, Denmark. The terrain was beautiful moors which some years ago was the home of black cocks. Unfortunately these birds are extinct there today and the game bird for the trials were grey legged partridge.
Norway entered The World Championships for the very first time. Primarily we went to Denmark to observe, learn and meet new people with the same interest in pointing dogs as ourselves. Like many others, we were surprised that Great Britain had not entered any British dogs - only Continental.

The FCI rules are very different from what we are used to and we also understood speed and style was just as important as finding game. The dogs were to flush the birds while walking alongside handlers leg.In Norway we prefer dogs that flush hard on command.

Sletthallens Cash pointing a partridge (handler Fredrik Aalerud).

However, the judges let us flush as we liked as long as they were told beforehand what type of flush it would be. Another special requirement for The World Championships was that the dogs had to water retrieve a duck.

Our team consisted of three English Pointers (Fugledes Venus/Ob's XL/ Setpoints Fun) and one English Setter, our own, Sletthallens Cash. Among 19 nations Norway placed 4th. Needless to say, we were very happy
We saw many very good dogs during our stay. However, when it comes to finding game it was noticeable how good the Nordic (Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway) dogs were. However, not all of them took care of their chances. We believe much of this is due to that all Nordic pointing dogs are used actively during the hunting season -  it's part of our culture. While many of the participants from the other nations only used their dogs for trials. Furthermore, when breeding so much for speed and style has this happened at the expence of a good nose?
